A few steps away from the Hospices and 2 minutes away from Hotel Panorama, is the last independent and traditional mustard factory in Burgundy.
Founded in 1840 by Léon Bouley, it got noticed very quickly for the quality of its products, in 1903, Moutarderie Fallot was awarded a City of Paris Diploma during the Paris World Fair.
Edmond Fallot joined the company in 1928, under its leadership the mustard factory enjoyed continuous growth, despite the hardship caused by WWII. Upon the death of Edmond Fallot in 1962, his son-in-law, Roger Désarménien, started running the company.
His grand-son, Marc Désarménien, took over in 1994.Under his leadership, the company was modernised, while the traditional method of slowly grinding the mustard seeds with a stone mill was preserved.
Today, 3 touristic activities are offered by Moutarderie Fallot: (All with a free tasting at the end of the visit!)
The “Découverte” museum experience takes the visitor through the centuries to see the techniques and traditions of mustard making. Price: Adult: €10; Child: €8.
The “Sensations fortes” experience to see the full mustard transformation process of the wild mustard seed, from the storage silo to the packaging of the finished product. Price: Adult: €10; Child: €8.
And lastly the “Enjoy Fallot” concept, a free space dedicated to mustard where visitors can discover limited edition mustard and taste all the flavours.
